Wado Ryu is a Japanese martial art with deep roots in Jiu-Jitsu. It is known for its emphasis on softness in its techniques, allowing practitioners to overcome stronger opponents more effectively than in many other Karate styles. If you’re looking for something different in your training, Wado Ryu might be a great option. Here’s everything you need to know about this unique martial art.
Unlike most Karate styles, Wado Ryu is often described as a blend of Japanese Jiu-Jitsu and Shotokan Karate. The founder, Hironori Ohtsuka, combined the two styles to create an eclectic, hybrid approach to martial arts. This sets Wado Ryu apart from other Karate forms, which generally focus more on direct striking techniques.
If you're considering an alternative to traditional Karate for yourself or your child, Wado Ryu offers a distinctive option.
In addition to its effectiveness in self-defense, Wado Ryu emphasizes the principles of self-preservation and peace, making it a well-rounded martial art.
