Wado Ryu Jujutsu Karate is a traditional Japanese style that focuses on shifting or controlling the opponent’s attack for self-protection. Rather than using physical strength alone Wado Ryu maintains body discipline while performing certain Jujutsu or karate techniques. However, other karate styles focus more on punching; Wado Ryu is based more on the principle that shifting position is more effective than brutal strength or fighting force with force. Additionally, it involves joint locks and throws of Jujutsu-style techniques.
FMA Karate Academy offer two Wado Ryu Jujutsu-Karate classes. The first class is aimed at children under 14 years old. This class is held on Tuesdays at 5:30-7pm for beginners or intermediate students. In this class students will learn traditional Jujutsu-karate skills (kata, punching, kicking, striking, blocking and practical situational awareness and self-defence techniques).
Our second Wado Ryu Jujutsu-Karate class is primarily for advanced students holding a brown belt or above, this class is held on Tuesdays at 7-8:30pm.
